Are the 4x4 travellalls built about the same as above? Looking at one and dont know anything about them. How they hold up. Up front and rear etc...
codeman319
tude do you have any pics of a chevy motor mounted in an ih?

the 4wds if i recall are like the bare frame on the trailer, theres no crossmember. the IFS front ends have a cross member in them however
as for how to mount a sbc in one.... i built this-

i never ran it however

No one has any tips on 68 internationals trucks well if someone does and don't want to post it you can sent me PM
tude
what are you wanting to know? every single thing to do?
steering boxes are the same as what a 78 chevy truck is but you need to change the pitman arm and add the adaptor plate (on a non straight axle truck)

the IH pitman arm drops down farther than the chevy one, if not swapped it will hit the frame-

What the weak link it 2 wheel drive would you fold the tailgate down
tude
so far its mainly been my motor that was my week link.
what put mine out-
-hung up then rad blew and dist got wet (hardin 08)
-won (griggsville 09)
-master cyl cap popped off caused my 1st fire in 10 years (p. hill 09)
- had wireing trouble then a dead battery (oregon ill FB 09)
-broke steering box (hardin 09)
i think i ran it another time or 2 but i cant remember what happened
the tail gaite is personal prefrence IMO

Where do the frames like to give at . Where o run there hasn't been any to look at.
tude
mine hasnt.... the body has, the main leaf has a little bit but its where i chain it to the trailer that bent it

Do you know if a mid 70s dodge 3/4 rotors would work on the front to get rid of the 5 on 5 drum I know guys that run the 60s ford and dodge 5 bolts are ripping the studs out or ripping the center of the rim out
tude
i never tried.
00DODGE
Well looks like I will have to try it and see if it will work or not Ok thanks for the info
tude

I know this doesn't belong in this section but I am guessing this will get a little more traffic. I have a ih 1210. I am looking for interior and exterior parts. Literally the entire interior, and then some body panels and trim. If you happen to have anything, pm me on here and I will get back to you. Can't exactly derby it since it has a 3/8 plate welded to each side of the frame from the firewall to the rear leaf spring.
00DODGE
What do you do about the rear frame horns since they are shorter then the box?
tude
most stock IH bumpers that i have seen sit about flush with the floor end of the bed, this way the tail gate can drop straight down... a ford bed comes to the end (80s)

I have a 66 2wd 1/2 ton International to expand my derbying career to pickups. I wondered what tips are out there for this truck, i understand that it is a good one but i would like to nip the weak points while i can. Thanks for any help guys.
zilla06
Just wondering if this truck is worth derbying, The guy has it listed as a 60's 3/4 IH. But when comparing pictures it looks like a 57. Is that correct? and is it worth running?
thanks Zilla

tude
It's 50s, not exactly why year off the top of my head however, if you can get some frame pictures I'll compare to the 60s and 70s I have on hand
zilla06
I am gonna be going to look at it here next week sometime, i have never ran a truck, but from talking to a freind that has he said I want as straight of frame as i can get. Is there anything else to look for on IH's to tell if it will be a good frame or not?
Thanks Zilla
tude
Look at the frame under the rad, the rear spring hangers and the front body bolt area usually . However the body bolts you may not see even if they are rusty there, if it is just put a bigger washer.
Get a picture of the "a-arms forward" of the frame top bottom sides and front and I'll see what I can find out from my collection. At the cab on the 60-70s it dips down, don't be scared of it
zilla06
Tude thanks much for the help, It will be a week or two before i get back stateside on leave to look at it, but as soon as i can I will post what i find.
Thanks Zilla
tude
Well.... I'll be here

tude

Thanks Jeremy Timm
