Demolition Derby and Figure 8 racing PC GAME... Single Player and Multiplayer Derby Game.....

This thread is for us Demolition Derby and Figure 8 Online players. The game is for the PC. I will port over as much information as possible ... but for now..
Demolition Derby and Figure 8 Racing is a PC game released in 2001.
Anyone can download this game version. 1.0 and get the 1.22 patch and play online...

It works on your home computer in singles play against computer cars and it can work online and u play against others who have the game.

The reason we can play online today is the result of 3 months of hardwork and troubleshooting that started in January of 2010 by a bunch of guys with no technical or computer experience.
I want to thank those who helped get this thing going again and put up with night after night and month after month of testing.... "anything happening on your end? nope nothing, its not working"
You can play this game online today because of these people ;D 572BB, CaddyCrasher, Showstopper, Lexcorp, DerbyFun, Strassman, Cheater22x and finally THE BOSS , who actually put the information I gathered together and made the first connection between him and another friend. Now today, we have the resources to help people connect, more people to help others to connect. More information on Firewalls and Routers. And more users of Vista and Windows 7.

Note:
No one had been able to connect online for over 3 years. In some cases many many more years then that because Microsoft had locked out there own program that the game relied upon. This game was DEAD in the water. Its old, its flakey, and it didn't work online. But it is also a HELL OF ALOT OF FUN to play . No other game is 11 years old and still played like this one is.

i neeeed help. Ive never had this much trouble downloading the game. Any who its on a lap top, windows 7, when i go to run the game it pulls up then a box comes up about extracting files and no matter what i do i cant get it to work?

Jwg... I have it on my Toshiba Laptop... but its Vista.... I am reading about some issues with Windows7 and zip...and it displaying corrupted files..

I might make a repack of the game using the new 64bit zip for Windows7. But many people have been able to download and unzip the game without getting corruption errors. that hae W7. I will keep working with u as its working and downloads to your other computers

Are u also getting file corrupted errors?

I am not certain why Alot of people with W7 are able to download and install this game and ohers are just recently coming up with this corruption error if they have Windows7 and a laptop.

If you do download the game.. for Vista and Windows7

1) Download to desktop

2) Extract the program exe to the desktop

3) Rightclick on the install program

4) Run as administrator

5) Install into Programs/x86

We do know the intergrity of the current download is good.

What we don't know is why some W7 computers shows errors on zip downloads that are large files.

If its the corrupt files error Blackmopar... I don't have an answer for u yet.. as i have just seen this now with jwg computer...

If its not corrupt file error then we can get the game to run

Black Mopar and JWG... read this..link on corrupted zip files...

If you have new computers or relatively new computers your ram or bios may not be installed properly....

read the whole 2 pages and u will see that getting this fixed ... worked for those people having problems..

I am also reading alot debate with techies on why these zip files are working on some operating systems and not others...

IE can download the zip onto a windows7 and get crc errors.. yet copy the file to a usb stick stick it in a vista or xp and it can be extracted.... and problems in the reverse with zip files created on W7 that get crc errors on other computerrs.. apparently this is only a problem with larger files....

I figure..If I verify what the issue is I will make new download installer ....

And why not... have it install the 1.22 version with xtra tracks and then a separate set of car packs....

We have been discussing this... so I am holding off on building new cars and tracks ..just finishing up some odds and ends.. and then get to work on a new installer..

ANd hope that helps people who are having issues...

In the meantime.. if you are near other computers download the game and at least check to see if you are getting the same crc errors...

If not.. its your computer... and it will only be an annoyance when downloading large files...

FYI ... I f you have downloaded the program WINRAR you can use the tools function "Repair Archive" and this might fix the crc errors and if it does.. you can install the game... as needed for Windows7.. help links available when you get that far..

For those who have downloaded the game version 1.0, or Downloaded the 1.22 patch or are installing the game from CD and discover that the game works fine but will ALWAYS crash if you try to go to the feature... here is the solution.

This error has been reported on XP but is most common on Vista and Windows7,

It is caused by the game not getting accepted into the registery. It can also happen if you copy all your files from one cmputer to another.

To fix this.

When INSTALLING The game

RIGHT CLICK on the install program and run as an administrator.

When installing the 1.22 patch Right Click and run as administrator.

After installing the patch make sure you right click on the demo derby program.. set the compatibility to xp and screen res to 640 by 480

Right click on the program ddcfg and select SOFTWARE and save

your game shoiuld then work fine

I have spent sometime and made team cars for this game.

I have taken cars from this game that are either Stock game cars or Custom built cars, and made different teams for them. This is based off of two different kind of Team Derbies.

The first being the most well know. I have seen them on Speed TV (Lucas On The Edge). They are held in Jolliet Ill. The other is a Team competion being held at the Razorback Rumble.

The list of Team Cars are as follows.

Team Bad Company
Team Double D
Team Full Throttle
Team Reckoning
Team Road Rage (Seek & Destroy)
Team Stranglehold
Team Damage Inc.
Team Havoc
Team Orange Crush

Team EPR
Team 34

All cars are painted like you would see at there competitions. I will post one picture from each Team Car, in this thread, as time permits.

So in essences......

There are 11 Teams

33 New AI Drivers

66 New Cars

Download this file Version1.0 of the game. unzip it to your desktop. Then RIGHT CLICK on the install programs and RUN as Administrator. Extract the file into your programs folder..
