the pics are not humps they are wheele wells from what i understand of it  is done on the frame when the body is off you go around the axle and ut around the highest point in the hump of the frame so that the springs keep pressure pulling down on the top of the humps

i have never done this but remember reading about this on the other site

you dont just do it over the frame.. leave the body on the car and blow holes through the body too.. have stiff springs in your car.. if you want to lower your rearend cuz your springs are too still then find something to push down on the car as you put your chains on.. but yes loop it twice or as much as rules let you.. go through the body and make sure your chains are tight.. as loose chain wont do you any good.. dont have pictures but i sure someone will

Not quite sure y u would want 2 chain your humps anyway. whats the purpose?

its a way to help keep the rearend and springs under the car, and set the rear bumper height in the process

there is a lot more to it then all this......Try not chaining the humps on a leafer wagon and see what happens.......

chaining the humps help so much.. even on non leafed cars.. we used to bacically do the same with our homemade stock appearing shocks way back in the day until we could start chaining.. ever have a car kink at the humps? chain them and then see if it happens or notice how much longer it takes.. on wagons for sure

just like in the picture.. but we are allowed to do 2 loops.. and i like going threw the body too.. keeps the body down tight too

No problem.....i personally don't like going through the body seems to never stay tight. cause the once the sheet metel bends or moves then it loose again.........

on my pontiac Catalina I ran a chain threw the top of the spring perch and down to the rear end on the top of the spring perch i put a plate with a nut on it and welded the end of the chain to a pice of all thread, I welded the chain link to the rearend and the top of the chain i welded to a pice of all thread. The pice of all thread i ran all the way up to my trunk and welded a nut on the end of the all tread. So i could tighten down each spring with a pipe wrench after i roll into the derby. 

for a unibody car, the idea of the humps is the same as a full frame car allthough the top of the "frame" is also the floor of the trunk. So go back to your first pic of the unibody car, there is a red circle and just to the left of the circle is a folded up CRAFTSMAN fender cover. If you look about where the "S" is on that cover and slide your finger along that surface towards the wheel well you will actually travel across the top of the frame hump. The chain has to pass over that same area that you traced with your finger. Torch a hole in the inner fender right there and a corresponding hole through the surface near where the fender cover is (on the other side of the frame rail) and you've got your two holes for the chain to loop around. Take it down under the axle and bolt it together, there ya go, chained humps in a unibody car.

Has anyone ever ran a cable between the humps?  My rules allow a 3/8" cable to go through or around the frame rails, and it must be above and behind the rearend housing.  Just wondering if it helps alot or not.  Its a buick by the way.

it will help keep the humps together rather than blowing them apart if you get hit too hard or in the wrong way
