Round Back Wagons are banned in many places. The ban list gets longer all the time. Banned cars and 80 & newer classes are simply a promoter's way to cater to crybabies, but it will always be the same minority of guys who put the time, money and ingenuity into their cars, and be consistent top finishers, reguardless what kind of cars they are limited to using. So the whiners will think up another car that they can get banned because it is "too tough"

Whiners get the tears rolling, promoters listen to them and ban something, and then the next year look who wins... the same guys that won last year now driving a different car. Ban what they have and they came back the year after that and win again. It's because there are certain guys who are there to compete and then there are pathetic losers who have some bizarre sense of entitlement, who think they should be able to do nothing and win just because they are so awesome. They can't take it when the pile of crap they brought that can barely drive itself through the inspection line gets creamed on the track, surely it is all so unfair and the authorities should tilt the playing field in their favor right?

The classic trait of a loser is that they find it easier to drag others down to their level rather than pull themselves up. That's how cars get banned.

dm440c.....In December, I took a car that barely ran and was half slapped together in 2 days to a big show. Of course I lost my arse. But i can lose lose with the same level of class and grace that I can win with. Not debating anything you said there.....just sayin'...

its all in luck.. if you dont like going up against an imp.. go find one if you cant find one then thats just your luck.. i happen to know where there are a lot of imps. and i never got to run one. but they are still sitting there cuz they cant be run.. you may not be able to bend the cars as easy. but you can still breaks parts on them

moparman005, just on an interesting side note, since you mentioned it, in '69 & '70, NASCAR ready Fords and Chevys were unable to contend with the street versions of the Superbird's and Daytona's with 440's.

Only cars aroun here that are banned are pre 74 Imps. And I defiantly agree with all the above comments, the reason there banned is cause people look too much into a car. Sure it might be a little stronger but some people have to learn to get over it. Derbies are suppose to fun and if people have fun running Imps let them run them. It's there choice.

JUST BUILD THEM STOCK FRAMES, NO WELDING ANYWHERE AND SEE WHAT FLIES.. MY FAVORITE RULE IS "ALL CARS MUST BE STOCK".. THATS A LAUGH. COULDNT COUNT 1 STOCK CAR IN THE LAST 30 YEARS.....

The 03 up fords may set the record for making the ban list tracks are banning them that havent had one show up yet,i think the internet speeds this up because people hear about them faster and can complain quicker .Back years ago people learned about imperials first hand i had three guys destroy fresh impalas and  chrysler on the back of my 64 imperial then ask after it was over what year lincoln it was they had never seen one and identified it as a continental by the spare tire hump.When what normally wins gets banned there is always another car to take its place.

sounds like we're in agreement. That's not the kind of behavior that gets cars banned.

In the interests of full disclosure (lest there be an insinuation of hypocrisy) I do discuss some issues about car building with promoters, one of my themes is that I prefer stock and near stock derbies for a variety of reasons. Mainly I don't really like what I see happening in a lot of areas of the country and I hope to keep those same trends from happening in my area. One could argue that it is a slippery slope between banning certain car models and banning certain competition parts, but I feel that there is a warm cozy spot in between that promotes a healthy derby culture in a particular region. We're all free to have separate opinions on what that is but I think there is also some evidence to show, region by region, what general set of allowed and disallowed items produces the best results.

some shows will let 03's run but stock stuff, who cares, everything bends and breaks, if in doubt rip there wheels off, something usually has to give..

I look at a lot of the rules you guys run up north and just shake my head. People who can plate humps and patch frames. Oh yeah... real stock there.

I dont like people who whine at all. Over all the cars I have ran I have had my azz handed to me many times. I let that anger fuel me to build a better car and drive smarter.

I really dont think its the car but some of the things you do to cars to make them better. Thats what needs to be looked at.

THE REAL ISSUES ARE IN TRYING TO RUN A 2003 AND NEWER FORD WITH ALL THESE CRAZY MODIFICATIONS TO THE FRAME, THAT WERENT THERE TO BEGIN WITH. LIKE SWAPPING CRADLES AND WELDING UP MOUNTING SLEEVES FOR AN OLD STYLE STEERING SET UP, NOT TO MENTION COMPLETELY CHANGING THE FRONT SUSPENSION DESIGN. FACE IT, IN STOCK FORM WITH AN 8.8 REAR, THOSE CARS ARE MARSHMALLOWS, YOU COULDNT GIVE ME ONE FOR FREE.   I SERIOUSLY BELIEVE THAT ALL SUSPENSION AND REAR END MOUNTING POINTS REMAIN STOCK. DONT TRY AND USE THE EXCUSE OF " BUT I CANT FIND ANYTHING ELSE TO RUN" BECAUSE THATS A LIE.....   WHEN YOU HAVE DONE ALL THOSE MODS TO IT, IT NO LONGER IS A CAR, ITS A MADE UP CONCOCTION......

Imperials were banned in cali bout 2 yrs ago.  Until about 2 yrs ago most of our races were won by imperials.  WHAT DOES THAT TELL YOU?

SWAPPING A CRADDLE IN AN 03 AND UP CROWN IS NO DIFFERENT THAN SWAPPING IN AN IMPERIAL SUB IN A MOPAR. I WANDER IF ALL THIS HATERED FOR THESE O3 AND UP CROWNS ARE BECAUSE AFTER THESE "WEAK SPOTS" ARE REFINED ON THE NEW FORDS THEY WILL BEAT THE WHEELS OFF AN IMPERIAL , OR MOST ANYTHING FOR THAT MATTER. AFTER BEING BEAT BY ANY OF THE COMPETITIVE MODELS , THERE ARE 2 CLASSES OF PEOPLE. ONES THAT GO AND FIND ONE AND LOVE UM ,OR ONES THAT CANT AFFORD THEM AND HATE UM.
