how agressive of a camshaft do you guys use when selecting one for a derby motor. Also what do you guys consider when choosing a camshaft.
What's your budget? I prefer solid roller. I like this cam for a flat tappet hydraulic. Lunati VooDoo 60101 or 60102.
well i really had not thought of a budget i was just really trying to see what is good to use. I am just wondering what you guys look for in a camshaft. Duration, lift, seperation..... What RPM range u look for?
All of the above. For a good economical engine, I look for a cam that makes good low to mid range power that don't require a stall convertor for most people. I try to stay with a 270 max duration, 112 lobe seperation, 110 max,& .500 lift max. The two cams I mentioned above work really well in this category. From there, it depends on the how much they want to invest, can go to solid lifter cams on up to solid rollers.
