wanting to know the best car for a stock show.basic rules say no protectors,no legs on cage, weld doors solid, trunk six inch skip weld. trunk and quarters have to stay in stock location, 03 frame is not an option,02 maybe- you can change front suspenion but no welding on the frame at all so i dont know what you would do about the watts rearend,stock mounts, but you can weld bumper on. i know some say this is not stock but thats what there calling it thanks
98 vic with bolt on 80's arms and bolt on the rear end brackets and bolt the bottom arm through the frame on the downside of the hump there is a hole just shorten your lower and go through that one with a bolt....then there is no welding.......
can you run a GM motor in a ford? old iron or 80's an newer?
Assuming you can run engine of choice and there isn't a ton of tough old iron i'd say pre 98 ford.
But there are alot of variables
do you have a driveline?
If a watts link conversion is an option then the 98-02 is still an option.
Old iron could be an option, but price comes in to play as well

- 71-76 fullsize GM
- 74-78 fullsize Mopar
Those are traditionally the best stock class cars.
Yes, some guys can jump in right here and start naming off things like 60's, 70's, and 80's Fords, Cadillacs, Y frame Mopars, 70's midsize GM, pinch frame Mopars, on and on and on but most of those categories of cars require some extra skill and knowledge to make them truly compete in a stock class like what you describe. The first three I named are kinda no-brainer builds that any newbie can jump into and be competitive in a stock class the first time out.

Welding bumpers is vaigue at best. If your allowed bumper swaps, brackets to be welded to frame, etc then it opens up many more cars.

Based just on the rules you posted, My personal prefrence would be an 89-91 Ford/Merc Wagon. That way you don't have to monkey with the watts rear end

I'd have to agree with wizardofhoi, a nice, clean 89-91 Ford wagon.
If I couldn't get a Ford wagon my next choice would be a Dippy or Fifth Ave. Strong little cars, that can move around pretty well too.
is it stock if u put whatever motor u want gm to gm ford to ford mopar to mopar what is wrong with that do it old school keepem stock ran that way for years dont change nothing run it have fun and party

dont run a 9 inch imo.. put a 10 bolt in.. had to many problems with 9 inches.....
