I know this was on the old WeCrash but whats everyones list of top bumpers and years
Pointies! 74 imp then the rest
Is a 74 Impala bumber any good?
This thread will never end. Here goes the list 74-75 imperial 76-78 new yorker (pointy mopar) 74-76 impala (75 can be either style 74 or 76) now the debates comes in, flat mopars, various 74-76 full size buick, olds and pontiacs, 70's fords and 80's fords and then the various steel back bumpers that are on the mid size cars and you can throw the railroad bumper in there some where around the 70's and 80's fords
We run flat Mopars and 80s Ford bumpers
74 monte front ranks right up there with 74 impala front and it might be alittle better JMO
its all personal preference and luck.......
I personally love 74-75 Monte front and rear bumpers......hard from corner to corner............does that mean ill pay $250 for one..... NOPE, not gonna happen
i try different bumpers that I take long looks at and just try them, my personal opinion is theres a few bumpers that are as strong as 74 impala bumpers that I can get for $50 instead of $250 so im going for the under the radar bumper and not thinkin twice
Depends on the rules. How hard can i make the car? What kind of car am i running? But generally speaking my preference most of the time for a stock show, or softer front end is a 76 chevy. Stout but will give enough to not put excess stress on the frame. For a weld show, or a hard car I still love the 76 Oldsmobile.
been around this for 20 years now.. running for about 15.. dont run as much as i used to but have only used one type.. 74 chevy.. never tried any others.. well i guess i havent needed to either tho.. almost had to run a 76.. but found me a 74.. and with lots or places letting you load bumpers.. a chrome skin is a tough bumper now
the stock aluminum bumpers are alway the best

the stock aluminum bumpers are alway the best

75 monaco flat bumpers are pretty solid, if you can find one ;) and Mid to late 70's charger and doba bumpers are build almost the same as a chrysler V exept for the cross brace and less pointage... way easir to find, way cheaper~
you guys like 75 pontiac catalina or 75 buick bumpers more. It will be going on the catalina for a chain and go. can flip but cant weld. no hardnose stocl brackets, other wise i would put a 74 impala on but seems like a waste or a chain and go
i have ran a 75 monaco bumper on a 75 monaco in a no weld derby, i didnt do any thing to it except roll the ends in and i ran the thing balls to the wall 100 miles an hour using mostly the front end and after words the bumper looked the same as it did when i rolled the ends in.
